Seed Life the Beginning

My journey began in April 2016, marking a transformative period in my life. Overwhelmed and unsure of where to start, I faced a myriad of resources, each promising to be the answer I needed. What was the best choice? Who could provide the most effective services or the proper treatment? Amidst a sea of “mental health help” options, I found myself like Alice tumbling down a rabbit hole into “Information Overload Land.”

Despite amassing books, pamphlets, and brochures, clarity remained elusive. Fear, doubt, and worry were my constant companions, making me second-guess every decision and agonize over every suggestion. More than anything, I wanted to avoid medication for my child despite being told it was the only option. This spurred me to let go of my fears and step up—for my child’s sake. My resolve led me to research relentlessly, ask countless questions, advocate fervently, and educate myself and my child.

Through numerous trials and errors, we found our way. This journey didn’t just teach me how to support my child; it also equipped me to aid other parents facing similar challenges. Discovering the role of a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) felt like finding a community—a village of people who shared my struggles, acknowledged my feelings of inadequacy, and understood my fears without judgment. This inspired me to create a space within this community for shared language and mutual understanding.

In 2023, inspired by a passionate conversation with a CPS, I established Seed Life, Inc. This family-centered organization offers support, education, and training for parents and youth dealing with Serious Emotional Disorder (SED). I believe this additional support will empower parents to better advocate for tailored services and increase family involvement in the treatment process.

Seed Life Inc. represents the culmination of my and other CPSs experiences dedicated to assisting families with similar challenges. My journey, marked by persistent learning and perseverance, has prepared me to guide others on their paths to healing and understanding.
